Kingsoft Office CEO: AI Office Billing Models to Coexist

Chinese software firm Kingsoft Office unveiled two new AI-powered office intelligence agents at its '2026 AI Productivity Conference' in Shanghai, targeting both individual users and organizations.

The Lingxi Pro for individuals offers a personalized AI assistant, while WPS Comate for businesses serves as the core upgrade for the WPS 365 platform, enabling the implementation of 'enterprise brain' capabilities. At the conference, CEO Zhang Qingyuan clarified the company's strategy for AI in the office, stating that subscription-based models and token-based billing will coexist long-term.

Kingsoft Office has chosen to focus on an application-layer strategy rather than developing its own large language models. Zhang Qingyuan cited the company's resource limitations relative to the computational power, talent, and capital required for training such models. "Instead of struggling to create second- or third-tier models, we are focusing on our strengths in office applications," he stated.

The company positions itself as a 'model connector,' collaborating with multiple leading domestic large model providers. The 'enterprise brain' aims to integrate internal enterprise knowledge and data, evolving AI capabilities from mere question answering to executing tangible tasks. This is expected to reshape the work paradigm, with AI increasingly involved in achieving objectives.

Kingsoft Office anticipates more flexible commercial models for AI office solutions. Subscription models will suit users with low usage or basic feature needs, while token-based billing will offer enterprises with high usage and clear cost control requirements the ability to manage their budgets more precisely. Businesses can utilize their own tokens or purchase them from Kingsoft Office at a more advantageous rate.
