Kioxia Launches CM9-DLC Enterprise SSD with Direct Liquid Cooling Support

Kioxia has introduced its new CM9-DLC enterprise SSD, featuring support for direct liquid cooling (DLC). The drive is designed for data centers seeking enhanced thermal management and performance.

Kioxia America, Inc. has announced the launch of its CM9-DLC enterprise SSD. This new drive expands Kioxia's existing CM9 SSD line by incorporating support for direct liquid cooling (DLC), a technology increasingly adopted in high-density data centers.

The CM9-DLC SSD utilizes the EDSFF E3.S form factor and is designed to allow customers to implement liquid cooling across their entire server rack. This approach enables a single cooling system to manage both the compute and storage components effectively.

Adhering to industry standards, the CM9-DLC supports PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, NVMe-MI 1.2c, and the OCP Data Center NVMe SSD v2.5 specification. It also offers a dual-port configuration for improved reliability.

Available in capacities up to 32TB, the CM9-DLC comes in versions for read-intensive (1DWPD) and mixed workloads (3DWPD). Performance figures include sequential read speeds up to 14.8 GB/s and sequential write speeds up to 11 GB/s. Random 4KiB performance reaches up to 3400K IOPS for reads and 800K IOPS for writes, making it suitable for demanding applications like SSD caching.
