Technology firm Kiteworks has advised its customers to shut down their servers due to a credible threat of an imminent cyberattack.
Technology company Kiteworks has urged its customers to shut down their servers following the receipt of information regarding an imminent cyberattack threat.
The company, which provides tools for transferring large and sensitive datasets over the internet, confirmed it had notified its customers about the potential danger. German publication Heise initially reported that Kiteworks had sent an email to customers warning of an "imminent" attack that could occur as early as the upcoming weekend.
Kiteworks chief information security officer Frank Balonis stated that the company received credible threat intelligence from law enforcement indicating a potential targeting of certain Kiteworks customer systems. "Out of an abundance of caution, we notified customers directly and recommended a precautionary shutdown window while we and our law enforcement partners work through the matter," Balonis said.
The company has not reported any known compromises of its systems. Kiteworks is cooperating with law enforcement agencies to investigate the situation.
