Kitzbühel Farmhouse Museum Showcases Local History
The Kitzbühel Farmhouse Museum offers a journey back in time to the region's agricultural past. The Obernau farmhouse, first documented in 1380, and its grounds depict historical rural life.

The Kitzbühel Farmhouse Museum in Hinterobernau provides visitors with an in-depth look into the region's agricultural history and past way of life. Willi Gianmoena, the head of the association managing the museum, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing this heritage.
Located on the historic Römerweg, the museum's central building is the Obernau farmhouse, a traditional Salzburg-Tyrolean single-family farmstead first documented in 1380. The site also features an outdoor area with a traditional garden, a washhouse, a chapel, a bakehouse, and a beehive.
The former cattle stall exhibits tools such as sleds, carts, and plows, illustrating farming and forestry practices of past centuries. The museum association, founded in 1971 with approximately 120 members, has been instrumental in collecting and maintaining the artifacts. Gianmoena has led the association since 2008.
The museum not only displays tools but also offers insight into how multiple generations lived together on the farm, which served as a home, workshop, and community hub. Guided tours provide a unique opportunity to understand the development of Kitzbühel's rural culture.
