Kitzbühel Jubilee Garden Inaugurated for 100th Market Anniversary

Kitzbühel's Jubilee Garden has been inaugurated, this year celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Kitzbühel Town Band's (Stadtmusik Kitzbühel) "Jahrmarkt" or annual market. The garden, shaped like the town's coat of arms, is an annual feature established in 1971 to highlight a local institution or association celebrating a significant anniversary.
The town's gardeners, under Head Gardener Oskar Schwaiger, designed and implemented the floral display. The arrangement features approximately 1,200 echeverias, 2,500 red and green alternantheras, and Icelandic moss, with the creation taking about a week.
The 100th anniversary of the Jahrmarkt marks a long history, evolving from medieval church festivals to the current town celebration. The modern iteration of the market began in 1923 as a charitable event, with the Kitzbühel Town Band taking organizational responsibility in 1950.
This year's jubilee market will introduce a new dedicated children's area in Kitzbühel Town Park. Organizers emphasize that the market serves as a vital meeting place and a living tradition integral to Kitzbühel's identity.
