Kitzbühel offers tandem paragliding flights over Hahnenkamm
Kitzbühel Tourismus has introduced tandem paragliding flights as a new summer activity. Visitors can now experience the Hahnenkamm mountain from the air.

Kitzbühel Tourismus has added tandem paragliding flights to its summer activity offerings, allowing visitors to experience the renowned Hahnenkamm mountain from a unique aerial perspective. This initiative provides an alternative way to appreciate the landscape beyond the mountain's famous ski runs and hiking trails.
The tandem flights are conducted by experienced pilots who provide professional guidance and ensure a safe experience. After a brief orientation and fitting of the harness, the take-off involves a short run down the slope until the paraglider catches the wind and lifts off.
During the flight, pilots utilize thermals, rising columns of warm air, to gain altitude and prolong the time spent airborne. This allows passengers to enjoy a sensation of weightlessness while observing the stunning panoramic views of Kitzbühel and the surrounding Alps. The perceived wind at altitude is often gentler than expected, and summer conditions typically offer pleasant temperatures.
Landings are designed to be smooth and controlled. For an additional fee, passengers can obtain photographs taken during the flight. Tandem paragliding is available year-round, with pilots undergoing rigorous training and regular equipment checks to maintain safety standards.
Kitzbühel Tourismus notes that becoming a certified tandem pilot requires extensive training, including over 200 tandem flights and years of practice. The region also offers opportunities for aspiring solo paragliders to obtain licenses through local flight schools.
