Kitzbühel Reports Strong Start to Summer Season
The Kitzbühel tourism region has reported a significant increase in visitor numbers for the start of its summer season. Overnight stays rose by 11.3%, and arrivals increased by 8.9% compared to the previous year.
Kitzbühel Tourism has announced a highly positive outcome for the beginning of the 2026 summer season. The Kitzbühel region, encompassing the towns of Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach, and Jochberg, has positioned itself as one of Tyrol's strongest tourism destinations.
During the first two summer months, overnight stays saw an increase of 11.3% compared to the prior year, equating to approximately 12,500 additional overnight stays. The number of arrivals grew by 8.9%, or around 3,500 guests. This indicates that Kitzbühel not only welcomed more holidaymakers but also experienced a longer average duration of stay.
The successful debut of the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel – Tirol in late May provided a significant boost at the season's commencement. This international DP World Tour golf tournament drew additional attention to the destination. Furthermore, enhancements to the Kitzbühel guest card, the KitzCard, in cooperation with the Kitzbühel Cable Cars, bolstered the appeal of the summer offerings.
Traditional core markets demonstrated robust performance. Germany recorded an 11.6% increase in overnight stays, while Austria saw a 10.7% rise. Substantial growth was also observed from Switzerland (+34.1%) and the Netherlands (+31.2%). The United Kingdom market also showed positive development with a 1.4% increase.
Kitzbühel Tourism aims to sustain this positive trajectory by leveraging the region's natural beauty and diverse recreational activities.
