The Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course in Tyrol will serve as the venue for the DP World Tour Austrian Alpine Open, scheduled for May 25-31, 2026. This marks the first time the DP World Tour, one of professional golf's major circuits, will stage an event in Kitzbühel.
The tournament is expected to attract the world's leading golfers, with significant preparation undertaken to elevate the course to international standards. Austrian professional golfer Sepp Straka expressed his enthusiasm for competing in his home country again, noting the course's excellent condition and the impressive panoramic views.
Tourism officials anticipate substantial economic and promotional benefits for Tyrol. Karin Seiler, CEO of Tirol Werbung, estimates the event will generate over 37 million euros in advertising value. The competition is also seen as a means to bolster tourism during shoulder seasons, supporting the region's objective of year-round tourism.
The tournament is set to receive extensive global coverage, with broadcasts planned for over 170 countries and nearly 3,000 hours of live media reporting. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourismus, highlighted Kitzbühel's established reputation in sports and its existing golf infrastructure, deeming the major international event a logical progression.
Organizers, including Golf Enterprises GmbH and emotion Group, aim to solidify Kitzbühel's position as a premier international golf destination. Edwin Weindorfer, a key organizer, emphasized the unique combination of sporting excellence, natural scenery, and high-quality infrastructure that makes the Austrian Alpine Open a highlight on the tour calendar.
