Klaus Mack Appointed Head of Municipal Policy Working Group
Bundestag member Klaus Mack has been elected as the new chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group's working group on municipal policy. He assumes the role immediately.

The working group for municipal policy within the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag elected Klaus Mack, a member of parliament from Baden-Württemberg, as its new chairman on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Mack has served as a member of the German Bundestag since 2021 and has concurrently served as the deputy chairman of the working group. His experience in municipal politics is extensive: Mack was the mayor of the municipality of Enzklösterle from 2000 to 2006 and the mayor of the city of Bad Wildbad from 2006 to 2021. Additionally, he has been a member of the district council in Calw since 2004 and has served as the honorary chairman of the Nordschwarzwald regional association since 2019.
The working group for municipal policy brings together the expertise of the parliamentary group's members on local governance issues. Its objective is to integrate municipal policy perspectives into all areas of parliamentary work. The group currently comprises 153 members and is expected to contribute to the future sustainability of municipalities.
The transition in leadership is not anticipated to affect the group's ongoing operations or membership. Mack is expected to continue the group's work in advocating for municipal interests at the federal level.
