KNESTEL Offers Modular Sensor Assemblies for Particle Counters
KNESTEL Technologie & Elektronik GmbH has introduced its "Modules-in-Flow" system, a modular sensor assembly allowing customers to build their own particle counters.

German company KNESTEL Technologie & Elektronik GmbH has launched its "Modules-in-Flow" product, a modular sensor assembly designed for the construction of diesel exhaust particle counters. This system is aimed at customers who wish to integrate pre-assembled sensor modules into their own housings with matching electronics.
The "Modules-in-Flow" system comprises several key components: a charging module, an ion/particle separator, a sensor module, and a Volatile Particle Remover (VPR). The system's sensor technology has undergone type approval tests at NMI in the Netherlands and PTB in Germany, ensuring its reliability and compliance with standards.
KNESTEL states that the modular design accelerates the development of Particle Number (PN) counters, enabling customers to customize solutions and integrate them easily into their existing setups. Data is provided via an RS232 interface, with CAN bus available upon request.
The manufacturer highlights the system's ease of maintenance and cleaning. The VPR module efficiently removes volatile components, and the charging module utilizes diffusion charging, eliminating the need for consumables. The system is intended for use in particle counting for diesel engine emissions, on test benches, and for mobile measurement applications.
