Knight Therapeutics Relaunches AKYNZEO® in Brazil
Knight Therapeutics has relaunched the drug AKYNZEO® in Brazil through its affiliate United Medical Ltd. The relaunch aims to enhance the company's oncology presence in the region.
Knight Therapeutics Inc. announced that its Brazilian affiliate, United Medical Ltd., is assuming full commercial activities and relaunching AKYNZEO® (netupitant / palonosetron) in Brazil. This move signifies a strategic enhancement of the company's operations in the Latin American market.
The relaunch follows an exclusive license, distribution, and supply agreement entered into with Helsinn Healthcare SA on May 12, 2022. This agreement covers oral and intravenous AKYNZEO® in several territories, including Brazil, as well as oral and intravenous ALOXI® (palonosetron) in Canada.
AKYNZEO® is approved for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced acute and delayed nausea and vomiting. The drug generated approximately $7 million in sales in Canada and Brazil in 2021, according to IQVIA. The relaunch in Brazil is expected to complement Knight's existing oncology portfolio.
Knight Therapeutics focuses on acquiring and commercializing pharmaceutical products for Canada and Latin America. By taking full control of commercial operations in Brazil, Knight aims to leverage its established infrastructure and expertise to better serve patients undergoing cancer treatment.
