KnowYi leverages machine learning to reduce hardware prototyping cycles
KnowYi has developed an AI-driven platform to streamline hardware engineering by automating the resolution of complex design constraints and production risks.

KnowYi, a startup founded by Ella Meng, is applying machine learning to the hardware engineering sector to address common delays in the transition from prototype to mass production. The company’s platform is designed to capture undocumented engineering knowledge, identifying missing specifications and component risks before physical manufacturing begins. By digitizing these constraints, the system seeks to eliminate the common practice of restarting designs due to incomplete documentation.
The startup currently collaborates with a network of over 200 manufacturing partners, managing the coordination of testing and delivery. Data from finished builds is fed back into the reasoning model, creating a continuous improvement cycle for future designs. One of its clients, Reel-In Robotics, reportedly reduced its prototyping cycle from 10 weeks to three weeks by utilizing the system.
Operating in a competitive landscape that includes players like PhysicsX and Xometry, KnowYi differentiates itself by focusing on the logic behind engineering decisions. The company has secured 12 enterprise customers across the aerospace, robotics, and medical device sectors. While scaling, the firm must manage the operational risks of maintaining consistent quality and information flow across its growing supplier network.
