Konecranes Sets New Long-Term Climate Goals for 2050

Lifting equipment manufacturer Konecranes has announced a new long-term climate ambition, targeting a 90% reduction in its absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, compared to a 2019 baseline.
This long-term goal complements the company's recently upgraded near-term targets. By 2030, Konecranes aims to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60% and its Scope 3 emissions by 50% from the 2019 baseline. These shorter-term goals have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The climate targets are designed to support the decarbonization efforts of Konecranes' customer industries, including ports, the forest industry, and metal and waste handling sectors. Konecranes manufactures cranes and lifting equipment for these areas, striving to produce increasingly energy-efficient and low-emission solutions.
The company emphasizes that ambitious emission reductions are necessary to mitigate global climate change. Achieving these goals will require significant investment in product development and improvements to production processes.
