Konecranes Oyj, a manufacturer of lifting equipment, has announced new long-term climate targets designed to significantly reduce its carbon emissions by 2030. These goals align with the Paris Agreement and aim to assist its customer industries in their decarbonization efforts.

The company has committed to a 50% reduction in its direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030, compared to 2019 levels. Konecranes also plans to focus on decreasing emissions associated with the use of its products by customers (Scope 3), which includes developing more energy-efficient cranes and services.

"These ambitious targets are a key part of our strategy. They not only advance our own sustainability work but also help our customers achieve their own ambitious climate goals," said Konecranes CEO Anders Svensson.

While Konecranes has met some of its previous emission reduction targets, the company acknowledges the ongoing need for action to combat climate change. The manufacturer is investing in new technologies and processes to enhance energy efficiency and reduce its environmental impact across its value chain.
