Kontron Targets Edge AI Growth with Intel's Panther Lake Platforms
Technology firm Kontron announced on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, its expanded collaboration with Intel to leverage the new Intel Core Ultra Series 3 platform. This platform aims to enable more efficient and cost-effective AI applications at the edge.
Kontron, a global provider of embedded computing technology (ECT) and IoT solutions, is enhancing its position in the rapidly expanding Edge AI market through an expanded collaboration with Intel. The company announced on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, that it will be utilizing Intel's new Core Ultra Series 3 platform, codenamed Panther Lake.
The new Intel platform integrates CPU, GPU, and NPU (Neural Processing Unit) onto a single, highly integrated chip. Kontron anticipates this will lead to more compact, energy-efficient, and cost-effective IoT solutions for AI applications, reducing hardware complexity and implementation time.
Kontron sees particular benefits for industries such as robotics, automation, and security-critical sectors like defense and aerospace, where rapid and secure processing of large data volumes at the edge is increasingly crucial.
To meet these demands, Kontron has developed the VX30101 high-performance computing board, designed specifically for real-time Edge AI applications. The product is scheduled for market launch in the third quarter of 2026. Kontron is among the first suppliers to make the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 available in embedded products.
This collaboration with Intel forms a cornerstone of Kontron's strategic development in the AI sector. The company had previously introduced initial single-board computers and box PCs based on the new architecture in January.
