Körber Supply Chain and Tchibo Extend Long-Term Partnership
Körber Supply Chain and Tchibo are extending their long-standing partnership with the expansion of Tchibo's Cheb distribution center. The facility aims to enhance B2C logistics and returns processing.

Logistics software provider Körber Supply Chain and coffee and non-food specialist Tchibo are continuing their partnership, which now spans over 25 years. The latest development involves the expansion of Tchibo's Cheb distribution center in the Czech Republic.
Tchibo has relied on Körber's Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for many years, and the system has recently been implemented at the Cheb facility. The objective is to create more sustainable material flows for Tchibo's business-to-consumer (B2C) operations. The partnership began in 1999 with the first Tchibo warehouse utilizing a Körber system. Today, Tchibo employs Körber's WMS, Warehouse Control System (WCS), and Yard Management System (YMS) across multiple locations.
The Cheb distribution center now manages Tchibo's B2C e-commerce operations and European returns processing. During peak times, the center handles tens of thousands of orders daily. The centralized returns management ensures that returned items are quickly re-enterable into stock for resale. The facility features new automation and conveying technology, including a sorter managing approximately 110 packing stations.
"Optimizing inventory is not just about the right technology; it's also about questioning current processes," stated Michael Brandl, EVP EMEA at Körber Supply Chain Software. He highlighted the increasing importance of efficient and sustainable returns logistics, referencing a Körber study on consumer return habits. A Tchibo representative noted that the Cheb center's upgrades represent a significant step towards more sustainable logistics.
