The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) will present the first New York Korean Independent Film Festival (NYKIFF) from October 15-25, 2026. The festival aims to showcase Korean independent films and foster exchange with filmmakers.

The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) is launching its inaugural New York Korean Independent Film Festival (NYKIFF) from October 15 to 25, 2026, at the KCCNY Theater. The festival aims to expand international screening opportunities for Korean independent films and promote exchange between Korean filmmakers and the New York film community.
The festival addresses the limited exhibition and distribution opportunities for Korean independent cinema abroad. By providing a platform in New York, NYKIFF intends to increase the visibility of Korean independent films and offer recognition to their creators on an international stage.
The program features 10 feature films and 5 shorts, curated in collaboration with leading Korean film festivals. Twelve directors and film professionals are scheduled to visit New York for post-screening Q&A sessions with audiences. The festival will open with "STARS AND SAND" by director Kam Jeong-won, who will attend the screening along with cinematographer Choi Chang-hwan.
Films were selected in partnership with the Seoul Independent Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Muju Film Festival, and Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival. The selection spans fiction, documentary, thriller, and action genres, introducing distinctive perspectives in contemporary Korean independent cinema. Admission is free but requires advance registration.
