Krafton Cancels "Project Black Server" Development

Game developer Krafton has announced the termination of development for "Project Black Server" prior to its release. The decision follows an assessment of the game's current status and future direction.

Game developer Krafton has announced the cessation of development for its title "Project Black Server." The decision to halt the project before its official release raises questions regarding the company's product development pipeline.

Krafton stated that following an evaluation of the project's current development status and future direction, the team determined that the existing path would not result in a game capable of satisfying players long-term. The company expressed gratitude to the players who participated in closed tests and provided feedback, assuring that PUBG Studios will apply the experience gained in future projects.

"Project Black Server" was designed as a first-person tactical extraction shooter. Players were to enter a time-loop island called "Coli" to gather resources, engage in combat with other players and AI enemies, and attempt a successful extraction. The game featured a PvPvE mode, with up to 45 players participating in squads of three.

The project had undergone several closed alpha tests. The first closed alpha test occurred in December 2025. At that time, player engagement reportedly exceeded expectations, though feedback highlighted issues with combat feedback, situational awareness, and replayability fatigue.

Earlier this year, Krafton also stopped development on "PUBG: Blindspot." "PUBG: DED.NET," announced in August, employs Roguelike shooting mechanics and remains a separate development project.
