Krafton Settles with Subnautica 2 Developer After Dispute

Krafton has reached a settlement with its subsidiary Unknown Worlds Entertainment, the studio developing the upcoming game Subnautica 2, following a lengthy legal conflict. The resolution includes bonus payments for the studio's employees.

The dispute emerged last year when Krafton ousted Unknown Worlds' co-founders, Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, along with CEO Ted Gill. This occurred ahead of a potential $250 million bonus pool tied to specific financial targets that would have been shared among the studio's staff.

Following the removal, the executives initiated legal action. In March, a judge reinstated Gill as CEO. Subnautica 2 subsequently launched in early access in May, reportedly selling over four million copies within its first five days.

Specific terms of the settlement have not been disclosed. Both Krafton and Unknown Worlds are expected to refocus on the continued development and success of Subnautica 2.
