Kraken Robotics Receives $0.5 Million Contract from Government of Canada
Kraken Robotics' subsidiary has secured a $524,720 contract from the Government of Canada for its SeaVision® 3D laser scanner. The system will undergo testing at significant historical sites.
ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND – Kraken Robotics Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Kraken Robotic Systems Inc., has been awarded a contract valued at $524,720 from the Government of Canada for its SeaVision® 3D laser scanner. The SeaVision® system was previously pre-qualified under the Canadian government's Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), now known as the Innovative Solutions Canada – Testing Stream.
Kraken expects to deliver the SeaVision® system to its test partner, Parks Canada, during the third quarter of 2020. Parks Canada and Kraken plan to conduct sea trials and evaluations of the system at several archaeologically significant sites, including the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror in Nunavut.
SeaVision® is an underwater 3D laser imaging system designed for remotely operated and autonomous underwater vehicles. It delivers real-time, full-color 3D point cloud images of subsea infrastructure with millimeter accuracy. These datasets create detailed models for 3D visualization, supporting machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms for analytics.
