Kraken Robotics receives order for pressure tolerant batteries

ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND – Kraken Robotics Inc. announced Tuesday that it has received a new order valued at $0.6 million for its 6000-meter pressure tolerant SeaPower® batteries from Dive Technologies Inc. of Quincy, Massachusetts. The order specifies batteries intended for integration into the hull of a third DIVE-LD production vessel.

The batteries are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2021. Dive Technologies utilizes Kraken's pressure tolerant batteries to power its Large Displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (DIVE-LD). This order represents a continued business relationship between the two companies in the subsea robotics sector.

Kraken Robotics, known as "Canada's Ocean Company," specializes in the design and manufacturing of advanced marine robotics, sensors, and related subsea technologies. Its pressure tolerant battery technology is designed to operate at extreme depths without the need for heavy, expensive pressure housings, potentially reducing the cost and complexity of subsea vehicle deployment.

The value of this order further contributes to Kraken’s order backlog within the growing market for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The company continues to focus on developing and supplying key components for subsea exploration and operations.
