Kraken Robotics subsidiary completes EstLink cable burial survey
Kraken Robotics' subsidiary PanGeo Subsea has completed depth of burial surveys for the EstLink 1 and 2 electricity transmission cables between Estonia and Finland.

Kraken Robotics Inc. announced that its subsidiary, PanGeo Subsea, has concluded a cable depth of burial (DOB) survey along the EstLink 1 and 2 electricity transmission cables. The campaign was conducted in the Gulf of Finland, utilizing PanGeo's SeaKite Remotely Operated Towed Vehicle (ROTV) equipped with its patented Sub-Bottom Imager™ (SBI) technology.
PanGeo Subsea supported marine survey provider Arctia Meritaito Ltd onboard the research vessel RV Mintis for the survey. The SBI system produces a 3D acoustic image of cables up to 5 meters below the seabed. As an acoustic system, the SBI is non-intrusive, allowing the power cables to remain operational during the survey, a key requirement for such infrastructure.
The SeaKite ROTV integrates the SBI, enabling 3D acoustic surveys at speeds up to 4 knots. This approach bypasses the need for an ROV for DOB surveys, increasing data acquisition efficiency. By utilizing a smaller survey vessel for a shorter duration, the survey operations reportedly saved approximately 200,000 kg of carbon dioxide emissions.
PanGeo Subsea has a history of supporting sub-seabed surveys for offshore energy projects, having completed over 10,000 kilometers of cable DOB surveys to date. Kraken Robotics is a marine technology company focused on sensors, subsea batteries, and underwater robotic systems.
