Kroger Mandates New Uniforms for 400,000 Employees
Kroger is implementing a new uniform policy for its approximately 400,000 employees, aiming to enhance customer service and employee visibility.

Kroger has completed the rollout of new company-issued uniforms for its approximately 400,000 employees across its North American stores. The updated policy requires all store associates to wear designated blue, red, or black shirts, depending on store division and location, with managers wearing distinct button-down shirts or quarter-zip jackets.
The move stems from both customer feedback and internal data, which indicated that employees were not as visible or available as desired. Kroger stated that the change is intended to make staff more easily identifiable to customers, thereby improving the overall shopping experience.
This uniform refresh is part of CEO Greg Foran's broader strategy to boost sales and customer trust. The grocery giant, which operates numerous regional chains like Ralphs and Harris Teeter, has implemented the change in over 2,000 stores across 35 states.
According to the company, the initial response to the uniforms has been positive, with employees appreciating the fit and the cohesive look, and customers reporting that staff are easier to find. The company confirmed that this initiative is one of several aimed at enhancing the customer experience.
