KÜS Survey: Expertise and Value for Money Top Criteria for Workshop Choice

Expertise and a good price-performance ratio are the most significant criteria for car owners when choosing an automotive workshop, according to the latest "Trend-Tacho" survey conducted by the German inspection organization KÜS. Expertise was deemed most important by 99% of respondents.

Following closely behind, with 98% prioritizing it, is a good price-performance ratio. Friendliness of service (95%) and modern equipment (94%) rounded out the top four most critical factors for customers selecting a workshop.

Other important considerations include the availability of short-notice appointments (90%), price comparisons among providers (86%), and the cleanliness of the workshop (72%). Less emphasis was placed on factors such as comfortable waiting areas with beverage options or the visual appearance of the premises.

Advertising plays a minimal role in the selection process, with only 14% of respondents indicating its importance. KÜS Chief Managing Director Peter Schuler highlighted the findings, stating, "Regular car maintenance is crucial for maintaining warranty claims and ensuring safety. The clear prioritization of workshop expertise by car owners demonstrates a commitment to road safety for all." The survey questioned 1,000 German car drivers in November 2024.
