KTGY and San Mateo County Community College District Open New Affordable Housing Community

Architecture firm KTGY has announced the grand opening of College Ridge at Skyline College, a six-acre mixed-use apartment community located in San Bruno, California.

Developed in partnership with the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD), the community features two buildings, each housing 15 affordable apartments. These units are designated for faculty and staff of Skyline College, aiming to address the critical need for housing for essential workers in the Bay Area.

The development incorporates sustainable design principles, targeting LEED Silver certification. Features include energy-efficient appliances, low-emitting materials, electric vehicle charging stations, and drought-tolerant landscaping. The project also includes 40 market-rate single-family homes, designed by KTGY, which helped facilitate the public-private partnership for the affordable housing component.

"In the Bay Area and beyond, the need for affordable housing has become essential," said David Burton, KTGY executive director. "We are proud to offer thoughtfully designed, eco-conscious homes to the faculty and staff who need them most."

This project marks KTGY's 30th affordable housing development in the Bay Area, highlighting the firm's ongoing efforts to create accessible housing solutions for communities.
