KTGY designs Boilerhouse Prime Steakhouse at Purdue University

Architecture, branding, interior design, and planning firm KTGY, in partnership with developer White Lodging, has announced the grand opening of Boilerhouse Prime. This new steakhouse is situated within the newly constructed Pete Dye Clubhouse at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, adjacent to Purdue University’s campus.

KTGY was responsible for the interior design and branding of the space, aiming to blend classic golf aesthetics with the surreal landscape of golf courses. The design seeks to honor the history and legacies of golf legends who have influenced Purdue's golf culture.

The location and history of the site served as key inspirations for the design team. Particular focus was placed on honoring golf pioneers Alice Dye, referred to as the PGA's first lady of golf, and Pete Dye, the renowned course designer. Their influence is visible in artworks, including a prominent portrait displayed on the two-story wine wall. The space also features historical photographs of Purdue golf figures, display cubbies for memorabilia, Purdue-themed plaid fabrics, and artificial turf art pieces that interpret the golf theme in a contemporary manner.

Upon entry, a striking two-story wine wall separates the steakhouse from a more casual clubhouse area on the first floor. The interior offers various seating arrangements to provide unique dining experiences. The main dining room features subdued lighting, velvet draperies, and dark wood paneling with illuminated memorabilia cubbies, creating an intimate and formal setting. The expansive bar area is designed to accommodate both large groups and smaller gatherings. The restaurant also includes two private dining rooms suitable for business meetings and special occasions.

The branding designers translated elements of the golf course and Purdue's history into the menu design, logo, and signage. Utilizing colors, topography, and textures from the golf course, alongside metallic gold accents reminiscent of Purdue's signature gold, these elements enhance the sense of place and contribute to an elevated guest experience.
