Kunlun Tech Releases First Consumer Graphics Card Video Game Model
Chinese IT firm Kunlun Tech has launched Matrix-Game 4.0, the first video game model designed to run on a single consumer-grade graphics card. The project has also been released as open source.
Chinese IT firm Kunlun Tech has launched Matrix-Game 4.0, which the company claims is the world's first large video game model capable of running on a single consumer-grade graphics card. The project's source code was simultaneously released as open source.
The model reportedly enables a real-time gaming experience at 480p resolution and 60 frames per second. Kunlun Tech states that Matrix-Game 4.0 has for the first time completed the loop of 'code generating game logic โ structural image providing structural constraints โ video model rendering in real-time.' This establishes a viable technical path for game prototype development, personalization, and user-generated content (UGC).
The game engine maintains the world state and interaction rules, while the video generation model presents detailed graphics in real-time. Latency from key press to screen reaction is reported to be under 150 milliseconds. The company plans to continue iterating on the model by increasing resolution, exploring multiplayer experiences with consistent player perspectives, and expanding support for more game types.
The project's code is available on GitHub and Huggingface, aiming to advance game development practices and enable new gaming experiences with lower hardware demands.
