Kyance Launches AI Shopper Trust Platform, Names Tim Brown CEO

Kyance has launched a new, patent-pending trust platform aimed at helping merchants verify and score AI agents that shop on behalf of consumers. The system verifies the identity of the person behind each agent and provides evidence to resolve disputes if a purchase is later denied.

Merchants are preparing for agent-led checkouts while facing an increase in "friendly fraud," where customers dispute legitimate purchases. Industry reports indicate a significant percentage of merchants are exploring or implementing solutions for agentic AI payments, with a growing number reporting first-party misuse. Existing fraud detection tools, designed for human shoppers, struggle to differentiate between legitimate and fraudulent AI agents and lack records of agent authorization.

The Kyance platform addresses these risks by flagging fraudulent attempts, such as spoofed agents or stolen identities, before an order is shipped. If a customer later claims an agent-authorized purchase was unauthorized, the merchant retains signed proof of who initially approved the transaction.

Kyance has also appointed co-founder Tim Brown as its chief executive officer. Brown brings 30 years of experience in digital identity and biometrics. He noted that while network protocols confirm an agent's registration and a consumer's intent, they do not guarantee trustworthiness. "Kyance provides merchants with the scoring and confidence to embrace agent commerce, and the evidence to win when a customer claims it wasn't them," Brown stated.

Kyance is now live and actively seeking partners. Merchants, payment providers, and dispute platforms can learn more at kyance.com.
