Kymeta Expands Distribution Network to Support Remote Facilities

Kymeta has expanded its distribution network through a new partnership with FMC GlobalSat. This collaboration aims to provide satellite communication and internet connectivity to locations focused on wind, solar, geothermal, and other forms of renewable energy.

Historically, the renewable energy sector has relied on expensive and often unreliable options like fiber optics or microwave links. These methods are not always cost-effective or available in remote areas, posing challenges for essential functions such as monitoring, security, and asset management.

"Renewable energy operations are most often in remote locations far from major metropolitan areas and have few or no options for connectivity," said Steve Sybeldon, Vice President Business Development at Kymeta. "Kymeta solutions are reliable, utilize satellite communications available where terrestrial solutions are not, and are compatible with future LEO satellite constellations."

Kymeta's KyWay terminals offer access to a satellite network at a reduced cost compared to current options for the renewable energy market. The company's flat-panel antennas have no moving parts, reducing maintenance needs and facilitating reliable connectivity.

This expansion addresses the critical need for consistent and dependable communication in the renewable energy sector, particularly for facilities located far from traditional network infrastructure. The partnership aims to overcome previous limitations related to cost, reliability, and availability of communication services.
