Kymeta Expands Network Offerings for Government and Military via Comtech Partnership
Kymeta announced a technology partnership with Comtech EF Data Corp., integrating Kymeta's u8 terminal with Comtech's modem to enhance mobile satellite communication capabilities for government and military users.
REDMOND, Wash. – June 8, 2021 – Kymeta, a company focused on mobile global communications, has entered into a strategic technology partnership with Comtech EF Data Corp. This collaboration aims to broaden Kymeta's network offerings for its Kymeta™ u8 terminal through interoperability with Comtech’s SLM-5650B modem.
The integration, leveraging the Open Antenna to Modem Interface Protocol (OpenAMIP), allows for seamless setup and automatic operation. This pairing is designed to enhance the reliability and ease of use of satellite communications, particularly for government and military applications.
Comtech's SLM-5650B modem is certified by the U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command for critical commercial and military use. It meets industry standards and supports FIPS 140-2 certified encryption. Kymeta's u8 terminals are designed for rapid deployment, with setup times measured in minutes. A transportable version, the u8 GO, is also available for immediate field use.
"The integration of the u8 antenna with the Comtech modem allows users to upgrade to satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) capability while utilizing existing modem and hub architecture," said Neville Meijers, Kymeta Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer.
