Kymeta Joins Red Cat Initiative to Advance Autonomous Maritime Connectivity

Kymeta has joined Red Cat Holdings' Futures Initiative, a consortium focused on accelerating advanced autonomous systems for defense applications. As part of this collaboration, Kymeta's satellite communication technology will be integrated into the Blue Ops Variant 7 uncrewed surface vessel (USV), a product of Red Cat's maritime division.

The integration aims to enable continuous, "on-the-move" communications for autonomous maritime operations. This allows systems to maintain connectivity while operating at distances and in dynamic environments, which is considered crucial for distributed missions and real-time data sharing. The technology supports multi-orbit satellite networks, including GEO, LEO, and MEO.

Barry Hinckley, President of Blue Ops, highlighted the critical role of reliable connectivity in increasingly complex missions for unmanned surface vessels. According to the company, Kymeta's technology provides a solution that ensures secure and resilient connections, even amidst electronic warfare disruptions.

Manny Mora, CEO and President of Kymeta, stated that the effectiveness of autonomous maritime systems is contingent upon their communication links. He noted that Kymeta's solutions are designed to deliver persistent connectivity across multiple networks, facilitating continuous command and control for distributed USV operations.
