Kymeta Secures U.S. DoD Contract to Develop Multi-Mission Platform
Kymeta will develop an enhanced cartridge for its Osprey u8 terminal, integrating compute, software-defined radio, and networking capabilities for defense applications.

REDMOND, WA – Kymeta has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to develop an enhanced cartridge for its Osprey u8 terminal. This new module will integrate compute, software-defined radio (SDR), and networking capabilities directly into the terminal's modular architecture.
The contract award signifies growing defense demand for mission capabilities at the tactical edge. By embedding edge computing and SDR functionality, Kymeta's terminal transforms into a multi-mission platform, supporting additional applications without requiring extra hardware.
The advanced compute and SDR capabilities will reside within the modular cartridge. In addition to satellite communications on the move, these terminals will support RF Space Domain Awareness, aiding in the detection of interference and protection of space-based services. Future software applications can expand the terminal's functionality.
Manny Mora, CEO of Kymeta, stated that the contract reflects customer confidence in Kymeta's ability to adapt technology for evolving mission needs. He added that the upgraded cartridge enables rapid processing of RF data for signal identification and response, effectively turning the terminal into a full multi-mission platform.
