Kyrgyzstan Adopts New Health Strategy for 2019–2030
Kyrgyzstan has adopted a 12-year national health strategy aimed at enhancing public health and ensuring access to quality services for all citizens by 2030.

Kyrgyzstan has adopted a 12-year state strategy for the development of public health and health systems, covering the period 2019–2030. Titled “Healthy person – Prosperous country,” the strategy aims to protect health, ensure access to essential quality services, strengthen primary healthcare, and reduce financial hardship, working towards universal health coverage (UHC) by 2030.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has supported the Ministry of Health through technical expertise, capacity building, and coordination of stakeholders and development partners. The formulation process involved extensive consultations, including regional meetings where the draft plan was presented and feedback was gathered.
This inclusive process led Kyrgyz officials to recognize the value of partnerships and join the International Health Partnership for UHC2030 (UHC2030). The signing of the United Nations Global Compact in September 2018, a prerequisite for joining UHC2030, demonstrates a commitment to accelerating progress toward universal health coverage.
The new strategy aligns with other national policies, such as the National Development Strategy for 2018–2040. This marks the fourth health strategy for Kyrgyzstan, with WHO having previously supported the development of three earlier strategies.
