Labsphere Acquires Photon Gear to Expand Optical Capabilities
Photonics company Labsphere has acquired Photon Gear, a specialist in ultra-high-precision optical systems. The deal enhances Labsphere's integrated optical solutions offering for various industries.

NORTH SUTTON, New Hampshire and ONTARIO, New York – Photonics company Labsphere announced its acquisition of Photon Gear, Inc. Photon Gear specializes in the design and manufacturing of ultra-high-precision custom optical systems. This acquisition is set to bolster Labsphere's capacity to deliver integrated optical solutions to clients in sectors including medical devices, analytical instrumentation, semiconductors, and aerospace and defense.
The integration of Photon Gear's expertise is expected to broaden Labsphere's capabilities in developing complex, application-specific optical systems. This move allows customers to source designed-to-specification lens assemblies, along with the necessary light sources, integrating spheres, and calibration tools, from a single provider. Such consolidation aims to shorten design cycles and reduce the number of vendors involved in a project.
"Photon Gear is a strong strategic fit for Labsphere," stated Robert Harrison, President & CEO of Labsphere. "Their expertise in precision optical components and systems complements our capabilities in light generation, control, and measurement. Together, we can help customers create, manage, and measure light with greater accuracy and efficiency."
Founded in 2000, Photon Gear designs, assembles, and characterizes high-precision optical systems, utilizing multi-wavelength interferometric testing. Their lens assemblies are applied in semiconductor inspection and processing, medical and clinical instrumentation, and defense programs. The acquisition reinforces Labsphere's role as a key partner for organizations requiring precise light measurement, spectrum creation, and wavelength reflection.
