Land and Environment Court sets January hearing for Stortjärnhobben land designation
The Land and Environment Court of Appeal has scheduled a hearing for January 19, 2027, to address Vapsten Sami village's appeal against the Stortjärnhobben land designation.
The Swedish Land and Environment Court of Appeal will hold a hearing on January 19, 2027, in Stockholm regarding the land designation at Stortjärnhobben. The session follows an appeal filed by the Vapsten Sami village, challenging the legal authorization granted for the land.
Lappland Guldprospektering AB, the company involved, currently maintains rights to access the site while the legal review is pending. The outcome of the hearing is expected to clarify the company's operational status in the area, which has faced significant delays due to the ongoing litigation.
CEO Fredrik Johansson noted that the scheduling of the hearing marks a step forward after an extended administrative process. The court's decision will ultimately determine the scope of future land use for the company in the designated region.
