Land Rover Discovery Sport to Cease Production in December 2026

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the Discovery Sport will be discontinued in December 2026, marking the end of its more than 11-year presence in the market. The company stated the decision aligns with the model's product lifecycle.

New factory orders for the Discovery Sport are no longer being accepted in several European markets, including France, Germany, and Spain. Prior to the official production halt, some regions will enter a phased end-of-production process.

Launched in the UK in February 2015, the Discovery Sport was one of the longest-serving vehicles on the British market. Its discontinuation means the Volvo XC90 will become the longest-running model available there. The timing of the Discovery Sport's end also coincides with the EU's new General Safety Regulation 2 (GSR2). Given the model's age and diminishing profit margins, Jaguar Land Rover has opted not to invest in upgrades to meet the new regulatory requirements.

Historically, the Discovery Sport has been a significant volume contributor for Jaguar Land Rover. In its first full year of sales, 2016, it sold over 122,000 units globally, making it the brand's best-selling vehicle. However, sales have declined due to the model's aging design, with 2025 sales falling below a tenth of the 2016 figures. The production capacity freed up by the Discovery Sport's exit is expected to be utilized for the new Range Rover GT. The future of the Range Rover Evoque, which shares the same platform, remains uncertain, though reports suggest no immediate plans to discontinue it.
