Lantmännen to Acquire Polish Biofuel Company Ekobenz

Lantmännen Energi AB has entered into a preliminary agreement to acquire Ekobenz Sp. z o.o. in Poland. The acquisition aims to extend Lantmännen Energy's position in the bioenergy sector by building an integrated supply chain for sustainable fuels, reducing reliance on fossil resources.

Founded in 2006, Ekobenz specializes in Ethanol-to-Gasoline (EtG) technology for advanced biofuels with significant CO₂ emission reductions. The company operates a commercial facility in Bogumiłów and reported sales revenue of €13 million in 2024, employing 61 people. Ekobenz serves a customer base in the special fuels segment, including motorsport.

"With the acquisition of Ekobenz, we extend our value chain and strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable fuels. By combining proven technology with Lantmännen’s biofuel expertise, we take another step toward sustainable and scalable biofuel solutions," stated Magnus Kagevik, Lantmännen’s CEO and Group President.

The transaction is expected to be completed by December 1, 2025. Lantmännen plans to leverage Ekobenz's capabilities to enhance its offering of scalable, infrastructure-compatible solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in sectors where electrification is not yet feasible. The integration is intended to create a closed value chain for sustainable fuels, from raw material to finished product.
