Lantmännen Unibake completes acquisition of Panificio San Francesco
Lantmännen Unibake has finalized the purchase of Italian bakery firm Panificio San Francesco to expand its presence in the Italian retail bake-off market.

Lantmännen Unibake confirmed on November 2, 2026, that it has completed the acquisition of Panificio San Francesco S.p.A. The transaction provides the Nordic food group with a strategic platform for growth within the Italian retail frozen bread segment.
Founded in 2006, the Italian company operates a production facility in Codevilla, south of Milan, employing approximately 100 people. The bakery has established a regional footprint supplying frozen bread products to retail and discount grocery chains.
Magnus Kagevik, President and CEO of Lantmännen, stated that the acquisition is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen European bakery operations and build long-term value. Carsten Lyngsø Thomsen, President of Lantmännen Unibake, added that the deal allows the company to integrate a well-established Italian partner with existing customer relationships into its broader operations.
Panificio San Francesco’s existing client teams will remain in place, though customers are expected to eventually benefit from the increased capacity and resources provided by the wider Lantmännen Unibake network.
