Lantmännen's Climate & Nature program covers Spendrups' malting barley requirement
Lantmännen's Climate & Nature program will cover Spendrups' entire malting barley needs starting in 2026. The initiative is projected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by nearly 5,000 metric tons.

Lantmännen and Spendrups are expanding their collaboration within the Climate & Nature program, aimed at sustainable farming. From the 2026 harvest, the program will supply 100 percent of Spendrups' conventionally grown malting barley requirement.
The initiative is estimated to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 5,000 metric tons of CO2e. This partnership demonstrates how customer demand throughout the food value chain can drive tangible actions in Swedish agriculture.
By the 2026 harvest, cultivation under this collaboration is expected to have contributed to a cumulative reduction of 12,600 metric tons of CO2e. The Climate & Nature program, which includes measures to reduce climate impact and enhance biodiversity, is part of Lantmännen's broader "Farming of the Future" vision targeting climate-neutral agriculture by 2050.
Spendrups CEO Henrik Åström highlighted the significance of this step for Swedish beer production and the company's progress towards its 2030 climate goals. Lantmännen Executive Vice President Per Arfvidsson noted that the collaboration enables rapid scaling and brings products with lower climate footprints to consumers.
