This adjustment resulted in a performance gain of approximately 16% in the 3DMark Steel Nomad benchmark, as reported by tech outlet Wccftech and detailed on Reddit.
The user, identified as u/Ecstatic_Hamster2208 on Reddit, utilized a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 Gen 10 gaming laptop equipped with an RTX 5070 Ti. This configuration typically operates at a 140W total graphics power (115W base + 25W Dynamic Boost). By flashing a custom VBIOS and locking the voltage curve, the user was able to unlock the higher power target.
The modified RTX 5070 Ti achieved a score of 4,839 in the 3DMark Steel Nomad test. This score represents a 16% improvement over the fastest RTX 5070 Ti gaming laptops previously benchmarked in the same test, according to data compiled by Jarrod's Tech.
While the tools for this modification have been shared on GitHub, the creators caution that successful implementation is dependent on the individual laptop's power delivery and thermal design.
