Largest Funding Rounds: Defense Tech and AI Lead Investment
Startup investors closed significant funding rounds this week, with AI and defense among favored target sectors. Defense tech startup Castelion secured the largest investment.

The largest startup funding rounds in the U.S. this week saw significant investment activity, particularly in the defense technology and artificial intelligence sectors. Defense tech firm Castelion, which is developing a hypersonic missile, raised the largest sum, securing $800 million in equity financing.
The company also obtained $250 million in debt financing. The equity round valued Castelion at $13 billion. This investment in hypersonic missile technology signifies a notable development in defense capabilities.
In the AI space, Etched, a developer of AI inference clusters, secured $700 million in a new funding round. Additionally, AI video and image creation platform Higgsfield closed on $400 million in Series B financing.
Other notable rounds included data center operator Groq, which raised $350 million, and AI-powered voice-to-text tool provider Wispr Flow, which obtained $280 million. Satellite constellation designer Muon Space also closed a $250 million Series C round, indicating continued investor interest in space technology.
