Scania East Africa has appointed Lars Eklund as its new Managing Director, effective October 1, 2020. Eklund will furthermore head the East Africa business unit, which encompasses Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.

Eklund brings extensive regional experience from his prior role as Managing Director for Scania Tanzania. During his four-year tenure, he reportedly grew the company's revenue by over 150% through restructuring and implementing new operational processes. He credited team effort and customer support for the company's performance.

The company aims to provide comprehensive transport solutions to customers, including after-sales services. Eklund's stated objective is to develop and tailor product and service offerings to meet customer demands, focusing on increasing payload, fuel efficiency, reducing operational costs, and maximizing uptime. The company also plans to introduce new concepts for financing, repair and maintenance contracts, and connectivity services.

Scania East Africa seeks to strengthen its market position and expand its service network. The company is also focusing on sustainable transport solutions, including alternative fuels like CNG and biogas, and the potential integration of electrification for urban transport.
