LASER COMPONENTS Distributes New Fiber Optic Splicer

LASER COMPONENTS Germany GmbH started distributing the FITEL S154-AC fusion splicer from Furukawa Electric in September 2023. The device is intended for installation work in fiber-to-the-home (FTTx) networks, metro networks, and data centers.

The splicer's key advantages lie in its speed and accuracy. The FITEL S154-AC can complete a fiber splice in six seconds with an average splice loss of 0.03 dB. This makes it suitable for the rapidly expanding FTTx market and demanding metro network infrastructure projects. The unit is designed to withstand difficult environmental conditions, featuring a robust housing that is shock-resistant (IK07) and provides protection against dust and dripping water (IP52).

The FITEL S154-AC supports numerous types of splice-on connectors (SOCs), which are becoming increasingly popular for ease of field installation. The fusion splicer is also designed for ease of maintenance and operation. A 4.3-inch touchscreen facilitates fast, intuitive use. For cleaning purposes, the V-groove and electrodes can be removed in just a few steps, providing easy access to the optical elements.
