LASER COMPONENTS is now the German distribution partner for cryogenically cooled Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) detectors from VIGO Photonics. These detectors are primarily utilized in Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, particularly for applications in the long-wave infrared range.

The nitrogen-cooled MCT detectors enable precise measurements at wavelengths beyond 20 µm. They achieve performance levels only possible at very low temperatures (77 Kelvin), making them suitable for scientific spectroscopy, gas analysis, environmental monitoring, and industrial process control. The detectors are available in Dewar assemblies or flatpack housings, allowing for flexible integration into various FTIR measurement setups.

Designed with large active areas, anti-reflection coated windows, and anti-fringing optimization, these detectors ensure low-noise and interference-free signal processing. This capability allows for the reliable capture of even weak or difficult-to-detect IR signals. LASER COMPONENTS stated this expands their portfolio in highly sensitive FTIR analysis and opens new possibilities for demanding measurement applications.

Tim Huylebrouck, Head of the Infrared Division at LASER COMPONENTS, noted that VIGO Photonics' technology is a perfect fit for their customers' requirements. The company continues to focus on providing solutions for high-performance analytical tasks.
