Lattice Semiconductor Completes Acquisition of AMI for $1.65 Billion
Semiconductor firm Lattice has finalized its acquisition of firmware provider AMI for $1.65 billion. The combined entity aims to enhance security and management solutions for AI infrastructure.
Semiconductor company Lattice announced the completion of its acquisition of AMI (American Megatrends Inc.), a leader in firmware and infrastructure management, for $1.65 billion. The transaction was finalized recently.
The acquisition merges Lattice's expertise in low-power FPGAs with AMI's market-leading platform firmware and infrastructure manageability technologies, particularly in cloud computing and AI sectors. This combination is expected to expand Lattice's capabilities, scale, customer base, and market reach, providing integrated hardware and firmware solutions for the AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) industries.
The combined entity will operate AMI as a distinct business unit under the name "AMI, a Lattice Company." Sanjoy Maity, former CEO of AMI, will continue to lead this division as its General Manager.
Lattice stated that AMI will maintain its "supplier-neutral" approach, continuing to develop and deliver its firmware and management solutions without favoring any semiconductor vendor, including Lattice itself. This ensures continued support for a broad range of hardware platforms.
