Laura Chaubard to lead Sopra Steria's Defence, Security and Space vertical
Sopra Steria has appointed Laura Chaubard to head its Defence, Security and Space business vertical, effective September 1, 2026. The appointment reinforces the company's sovereign ambitions in a sector seeing increased European defense spending.

Sopra Steria, a major European tech player, announced the appointment of Laura Chaubard as the head of its Defence, Security and Space vertical. The appointment is effective September 1, 2026, and Chaubard will also join the Group's Executive Committee.
This move aligns with Europe's increasing defense spending and the growing importance of sovereign control over critical technologies. Chaubard, a graduate of École Polytechnique and a former Director General of the institution, brings significant expertise to the role.
The Defence, Security and Space vertical represented 13% of Sopra Steria's revenue in 2025. It encompasses critical systems for armed forces, governments, and key infrastructure, including command systems, intelligence, cybersecurity, and space applications. Recent acquisitions in spatial and cybersecurity have further strengthened the company's capabilities.
Chaubard's leadership is expected to bolster Sopra Steria's ambition to be a leading European partner for critical systems. The company aims for this sector to be a primary growth driver in the coming years, especially given the strategic importance of technological autonomy in the current geopolitical climate.
