Law firm Corboy & Demetrio has filed a lawsuit against two school districts concerning the death of Jenna Menias, a 6-year-old girl. The child was fatally struck by a school bus operated jointly by the districts on September 8, 2026, seconds after she had disembarked.
The lawsuit was filed in Frankfort on September 30. According to Corboy & Demetrio, representing the Menias family, the incident occurred just moments after the girl stepped off the bus.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of the school districts, contending they failed to ensure children could exit the bus safely. This failure, the suit claims, led to the child being hit by the departing bus.
The Menias family is seeking damages for wrongful death. The legal proceedings are expected to examine safety protocols for school transportation.
