Law Firm Investigates Alignment Healthcare's Financial Disclosures

San Francisco, CA – Hagens Berman is updating its investigation into Alignment Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALHC) following a nearly 20% stock collapse on Tuesday. The sell-off occurred after management disclosures at the Baird Global Healthcare Conference revealed unexpected additional investments and rising medical costs.

Alignment's shares hit a new 52-week low after the company disclosed an additional $10 million to $11 million in investments required for the second half of the year. Management also flagged headwinds from escalating medical costs, attributed to aggressive hospital billing practices, disputes, and appeals.

The financial pressures surface amid a previous whistleblower complaint. The whistleblower, an Alignment employee from 2019 to 2025, alleges the company misclassified operating expenses as capital expenditures. These actions purportedly boosted adjusted EBITDA for 2024 and 2025, thereby artificially inflating key performance metrics tied to stock price and executive compensation.

This recent downturn follows a significant drop in Alignment's stock in late July. After reporting lower-than-expected quarterly revenue, shares fell more than 20%. The company also provided a cautious outlook at that time.

"We are investigating whether the company may have misled the market regarding its true financial trajectory and internal health," said Reed Kathrein, a partner at Hagens Berman leading the investigation. Investors who have suffered significant losses are encouraged to submit their information to the firm.
