US senators are renewing calls for Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to step down, with at least one advocating for a criminal investigation. The renewed pressure stems from the release of documents that lawmakers allege demonstrate Kennedy provided false testimony to the Senate during his confirmation hearings last year.

Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) stated that the situation represents a "pattern, not a slip," and accused Kennedy of lying to the Senate and the public, further alleging that Kennedy has "jeopardized the health of children to advance his anti-vaccine agenda."

Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) also commented, sharing on social media that the documents offered "Proof we got RFK lying on the record during his confirmation hearing (a crime)." Wyden has requested the matter be referred to the US Department of Justice for a criminal investigation. In statements to The Guardian, Wyden further asserted that Kennedy's platform is founded on "lies and grifts that leave a trail of dead children in their wake" and emphasized that "There are consequences for lying to Congress."
