Lawsuit: Man used Grok AI to create 7,000 disturbing images of stepdaughter, then died by suicide
An expanded lawsuit alleges a man used xAI's Grok AI to generate approximately 7,000 sexually explicit images of his stepdaughter before dying by suicide. The complaint also accuses xAI of inadequate safety measures.

A man allegedly used xAI's Grok artificial intelligence model to generate around 7,000 sexually explicit images depicting his stepdaughter, who was 11 years old at the time, before taking his own life when police discovered the material. This was detailed in a proposed class action lawsuit that has since been expanded.
The amended complaint, refiled in the U.S., accuses AI firm xAI and its founder Elon Musk of designing Grok with inadequate safety systems that failed to prevent the creation of such explicit content. According to the filing, the AI's safety protocols did not flag harmful prompts until the man specifically requested "gang rape," which triggered a report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Furthermore, the expanded lawsuit claims that xAI and X, the social media platform owned by Musk, have endangered minors and shielded predators by providing tools capable of generating child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The allegations suggest the companies have also obstructed law enforcement investigations into such content.
The lawsuit, initially filed on behalf of one girl, has been broadened to include claims from other young girls who are also alleged victims of CSAM generated by Grok. The plaintiffs seek to hold xAI and X accountable for alleged deficiencies in their AI safety protocols and the resulting harm.
